11/08/2008 - Milwaukee, WI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Former New York Mets manager Willie Randolph has been named the new bench coach of the Milwaukee Brewers.
"We are very pleased to add Willie to the organization as he brings recent National League expertise and success to our coaching staff," said Milwaukee general manager Doug Melvin. "His reputation as a player is a quality that will be valuable in his teaching and coaching of our talented young team. Willie is a professional both on and off the field."
Randolph was the manager of the Mets from 2005 until being fired in June of 2008. He has posted a 302-253 record in his managing tenure in New York, including an appearance in the 2006 National League Championship Series. He also spent 11 seasons on the New York Yankees coaching staff, including a season as the bench coach in 2004.
The 54-year-old played for 18 years with the Yankees, Pirates, Dodgers, Athletics, Brewers and Mets.
