Sliding Thrashers invite Blues to town

Hockey Betting Lines

11/30/2008 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Not much has gone right for Atlanta since matching a franchise record with five straight wins earlier this month. The Thrashers will close out their November schedule today as they try to avoid a sixth loss in seven games when they welcome the St. Louis Blues to Philips Arena.

The Thrashers ended a six-game slide with their winning streak from November 2-14, but have gone just 1-4-1 since. Atlanta has been dealt back-to-back losses with the most recent setback coming in overtime Friday night against visiting Nashville.

Ryan Suter scored 1:44 into OT to lift Nashville to a 4-3 decision and a rare victory in Atlanta. The Predators has been 0-2-1 with a tie in their previous four trips to Philips Arena and hadn't won there since December 6, 1999.

In the extra frame, Shea Weber sent a lead pass to the left circle to Suter, who snuck a wrister between the pads of Johan Hedberg for the win.

Nathan Oystrick had a goal and an assist while Ilya Kovalchuk and Todd White also scored for the Thrashers. Hedberg made 22 saves in the loss and fell to 4-3-1 on the season.

The Thrashers are 5-5-1 as the host this year and are wrapping a brief two- game homestand today. Atlanta will kick off a three-game road trip Tuesday evening in Montreal.

St. Louis lost its second straight game on Saturday, as it coughed up a two- goal lead en route to a 4-2 setback at the hands of visiting Edmonton. Shawn Horcoff had a goal and two assists to lead the Oilers' comeback at Scottrade Center.

Trailing by two, the Oilers scored four unanswered goals over the second and third periods to take control of the game.

Brad Boyes and Patrik Berglund each had a goal for the Blues, who had won three in a row before losing their last two outings. Manny Legace made 18 saves in the loss.

The Blues are 4-5-1 as the visiting team this year and are playing the first of two straight on the road tonight. St. Louis will also visit the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday.

Atlanta is 3-0 with a tie in its last four games against the Blues and St. Louis is 0-2 with a pair of deadlocks over its previous three trips to Philips Arena.
