Top-three seeds reach Bogota semis

02/23/2007 - Bogota, Colombia (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Top seeds Tathiana Garbin and Flavia Pennetta of Italy and Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain were among Friday's quarterfinal winners at the $175,000 Copa Colsanitas Santander tennis tournament.

The No. 1 seed Garbin handled Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 6-2, 7-5, while the second-seeded Pennetta dismissed her fellow Italian Nathalie Vierin 6-2, 4-2, retired and a third-seeded Dominguez Lino, the defending champion here, overcame seventh-seeded Czech Klara Zakopalova 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 on Day 5 at Club Campestre El Rancho. Dominguez Lino topped Pennetta in last year's Bogota finale and Pennetta defeated Dominguez Lino in the 2005 Copa Colsanitas title bout.

One other quarter saw sixth-seeded Italian Robert Vinci oust fourth-seeded Frenchwoman Emilie Loit 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

Three of Saturday's four semifinalists hail from Italy.

The semis will pit Garbin against Dominguez Lino and Pennetta versus Vinci. A victory by Garbin would guarantee a rare all-Italian final.

The 2007 Bogota champ will collect $25,840.
