02/23/2007 - Memphis, TN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Seventh seed Venus Williams continued her strong play during her comeback week by posting a two-set victory over fellow American Laura Granville to move into the semifinals at the $175,000 Regions Morgan Keegan Championships.

Williams, who posted a 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 triumph, moved to an incredible 21-0 at the tier III level on the WTA Tour. In fact, she has won all four of her tier III appearances, last capturing a such title in 2005 at Istanbul.

This is Williams' first tournament after a four-month layoff to recover from a wrist injury. Up next for her will be Romanian qualifier Ioana Raluca Olaru. She reached the semis when fourth-seeded Aussie Samantha Stosur retired while trailing 1-5 in the first set. Stosur quit due to a viral illness.

Also Thursday, top-seeded Israeli Shahar Peer was an easy quarterfinal winner. The 19-year-old Peer pasted American Bethanie Mattek 6-0, 6-3 at The Racquet Club of Memphis.

Peer's semifinal opponent on Friday will be another American, Meilen Tu, who took out 2006 Memphis champion Sofia Arvidsson 6-0, 6-2 on Day 5 here. The Swedish Arvidsson defeated Poland's Marta Domachowska in last year's finale.

The 2007 Memphis titlist will collect $25,840.
