Woods unable to get anything going

07/17/2010 - St. Andrews, Scotland (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Three-time Open champion Tiger Woods mixed four bogeys and three birdies in a round of one-over 73 Saturday at the British Open.

Woods finished three rounds at three-under-par 213 and is currently 10 behind leader Louis Oosthuizen, who is still completing the third round.

"I couldn't get anything started today. I hit the ball better than the first two days and I got nothing out of the round," Woods admitted.

He hit 13-of-16 fairways on Saturday to raise his total to 37-of-48 for the week.

"My ball-striking is right where I need to have it," Woods stated. "I'm hitting the ball really well, I'm controlling the shots, but I'm just not getting it in the hole."

Woods had his worst putting round of the week as he needed 35 putts in his round.

"Some of the greens are faster than others. Around the loop (holes 7-11), they seem to be a little bit quicker," explained Woods. "I putted beautifully the first day. Yesterday and today, it felt like I three-putted every hole. It's frustrating because I'm hitting it well enough to contend in this tournament and I'm just not there."

Woods was plus-two through eight holes with six pars and a pair of bogeys. He two-putted for birdie on the ninth to get one back.

He got back to even-par for his round, and minus-three for the championship, with a birdie at 12, but dropped another stroke on the 13th.

Woods rolled in a birdie putt from just over 20 feet out on 15 before finding more trouble at the Road Hole. He drove left into the thick rough at 17 and could only pitch back to the fairway.

His third rolled off the right side of the green and into the rough across the road. Woods hit a stellar chip to tap-in range. At the last, Woods drove the green, but three-putted from long distance to close out his 73.

El Duque expected to throw Tuesday

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- New York Mets pitcher Orlando Hernandez, sidelined at spring training because of arthritis in his neck, is expected to resume throwing on Tuesday.

Hernandez received a cortisone shot Thursday after leaving camp and returning to New York to have his neck examined. The 41-year-old right-hander is penciled in as the team's No. 2 starter behind Tom Glavine.

El Duque's health is a major issue for the Mets, who won the NL East in 2007 and came within one victory of the World Series. Their aging and unsettled rotation is a big question mark this year.

Hernandez went 11-11 with a 4.66 ERA last season, including 9-7 with a 4.09 ERA in 20 starts after the Mets acquired him from Arizona in late May. But he missed the playoffs because of a torn calf muscle.

New York already is without Pedro Martinez, out until at least midseason following rotator cuff surgery. Among those competing for starting jobs are prospects Mike Pelfrey, Philip Humber and Jason Vargas, plus veterans Chan Ho Park, Jorge Sosa and Aaron Sele.

Notes: Mets manager Willie Randolph is excited about two new utility players he could have on his bench: Damion Easley and David Newhan. ''Their value is really all over the place,'' Randolph said. Easley can play anywhere in the infield and could be used as an emergency outfielder, though Randolph said he would prefer to keep the veteran in the infield. Newhan, meanwhile, can play second base, third or any outfield position for the Mets. ''I love versatility,'' Randolph said. ''I love guys that can give me options when I need them to step in.''
